Windows Mobile has started testing applications in preparation of the launch of its application store later this year, as it seeks to expand its focus to the consumer market.
Applications will be tested on an ongoing basis thereafter for its Market Place application store which will be integrated into handsets carrying the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform. Windows Mobile said Market Place fits in with its new focus on the consumer market.
Windows Mobile product marketing manager David Weeks said: “The lifeblood of Microsoft has always been developers and has been one of our biggest strengths. Those who offer the best service and ease of use will be the ones who survive. Customers will return to us time and time again.”
Windows’ store follows those of Apple, Google and Nokia.
