Virgin Media opened its first store in Manchester this week with an appearance from former Hollyoaks star and model Gemma Atkinson.

The new Virgin Media store is in Manchester’s Arndale Centre. It will offer all Virgin Media products and services, including fibre optic broadband, TV on demand service, and mobile phones offers under one roof.

Virgin Media managing director of consumer sales Peter Taddeo said: “We are really pleased to announce the official opening of our new Virgin Media store in Manchester, with the help of Gemma Atkinson. The store has been designed to give customers the chance to try before they buy so they can get a great idea of the quality and range Virgin Media has to offer.”

Virgin Media’s TV on demand service features 4,600 hours of viewing including BBC iPlayer, high definition programmes and 500 films.

Virgin Media will be offering a host of deals in the Manchester store during its first few weeks of opening, including a free installation for the first 100 customers, £30 off the first TV bill or a free Samsung Tocco Lite handset with a 12-month mobile contract. There is a grand prize of a Virgin Media bundle worth more than £1,100, including 50Mb broadband, a V+ HD box with television subscription and a landline phone package.

Virgin Media has already opened new stores in central Birmingham, Plymouth, Bromley, Leeds, Leicester, Wolverhampton, Hounslow and Bolton this year, taking the total number of own-branded stores to 31. It is part of the quad play provider’s plans to triple its retail presence in a year.
