3 is deliberating the idea of becoming the first UK network operator to open a mobile retail store in London’s China Town, staff claim.
The new store is yet to be confirmed, but 3 admits discussions have been ongoing about bringing a network store to China Town, which is populated almost entirely by the Asian community.
It is understood 3 will offer improved assistance for the Asian community, particularly overseas students, who struggle with credit checks for a mobile or broadband contract due to their time spent in the UK, often being declined or faced with a large deposit.
The store is also expected to be staffed by Cantonese speaking staff to provide information on handsets and deals. Handsets are also expected to be set on default Cantonese, which the majority of UK handsets do not come with.
A 3 spokesperson said: “There have been talks about opening a 3 store in China Town but nothing has been decided as yet.”
