Ethnic MVNO Lycamobile has announced it has reached one million UK subscribers since launch in September last year.
The Orange-backed MVNO, altered its one-year forecast for new subscribers from 750,000 to one million within weeks of operation and now predicts to reach 1.2 million UK customers by the end of the year.
Lycamobile chairman Subaskaran Allirajah said: “I am delighted to announce that there are now over one million members of the Lycamobile UK family. Our customers are enjoying the low cost proposition and great call quality that we offer.
“We look forward to welcoming even more customers to the Lycamobile family over the coming years.”
Lycamobile chief executive Milind Kangle said: “Through continued focus on providing customers with an unbeatable product proposition, we have continuously built up subscriber numbers in specific consumer segements.
“We are committed to making substantial investments in people, process and technology to broaden the range of services to Lycamobile’s global ethnic customer base of over 4 million subscribers.”
Lycamobile claimed it is the largest European international prepay MVNO and currently has operations in the UK, Scandinavia, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and Italy.
It plans to launch its MVNO service in Spain and Austria later this quarter followed by launches in France, Germany, Canada and United States by the end of the year.
