Samsung has announced that its first Android smartphone, the Galaxy (i7500), is now available on O2 through its stores, website and customer service team.
The Galaxy is available in the UK on O2 exclusively for four weeks and is free on a £45 a month tariff.
Users can go directly to the Android market via a widget on the handset and download a variety of apps for free. A range of Google services are available on the phone, such as Search, Gmail, Talk and Maps. It also comes with a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, 5-megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded to 40GB with a memory card.
Samsung Mobile UK vice president Mark Mitchinson said: “The Samsung Galaxy is one of the most innovative and high-quality Android-powered devices on the market. We’ve built in all the features people have come to expect from high-end Samsung devices, like the AMOLED screen and fast processing power, to provide a great user experience.
“We’re fortunate to have the technical ability at Samsung to support a variety of operating systems and demonstrate real leadership in developing the technologies that customers want and understand.”
