Mobile Commerce, a provider of location-based services and mobile content integration, has partnered with O2 to provide a location-based search for O2 Money.
The company’s technology enables O2 customers to find their nearest cash load point by texting a key word (e.g. LOAD) to 80202. The user will then receive a text message with details of the nearest cash load point based on their location. There are over 20,000 locations across the country where cards can be loaded, including all O2 stores, PayPoint outlets and independent retailers displaying the e-pay logo.
O2 Money was launched last month as a joint venture with NatWest, designed to help people manage their finances better by using a pre-loaded credit card to manage the amount they spend.
Mobile Commerce CEO Steve Page said: “With the current economic climate the O2 Money cards are the perfect way to help people, young and old, control their spending and with Mobile Commerce’s SMS location service they have the reassurance of knowing exactly where they can load their money. This is another example of how mobile can be integrated into areas of people’s lives in new and innovative ways to make them simpler, and another example of how our location-based search service can be applied.”
