LG unveils its first Android phone


LG has announced the launch of its first Android mobile device, the GW620 smartphone.

The GW620 features a 3-inch full touchscreen and slide out QWERTY keyboard. The handset’s Android platform ensures consumers can take advantage of the mobile applications and services developed by Google.

LG said that handsets such as the KS360 and GW520 were designed with functionality in mind and have been popular with consumers who want an on the go computing experience. It added that the GW620 is continuing LG’s dedication to meet consumer demand for more choice in the smartphone market.

LG president and CEO Dr. Skott Ahn said: “The LG GW620 will appeal to first-time smartphone customers by offering a new and different kind of user experience. Our objective is to provide a wide selection of smartphones to satisfy the diverse preferences of today’s consumers. This Android phone is just one of many smartphone models we plan to introduce worldwide in the years ahead.”

The LG GW620 will be available in selected European markets in Q4. Full product specifications will be provided at launch.
