T-Mobile has partnered with Vectone Mobile to extend the MVNO’s services to the UK market with the launch of its low-cost prepay service.
Vectone is a service offering low call rates for local, national and international calls, plus savings on SMS and roaming. To activate the service all customers need is a Vectone Mobile SIM card and they can top-up online or by buying vouchers from shops displaying the Vectone Mobile sign.
It’s a pan-European mobile brand with a customer base of one million in five countries including Denmark, Norway, Austria, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
The partnership stretches T-Mobile’s market share in the wholesale market to 50 per cent and is the first significant collaboration with an MVNO that predominantly targets an ethnic customer base.
T-Mobile UK managing director Richard Moat (pictured) said: “We are delighted to be supporting Vectone’s ambitious expansion plans for the UK market. The deal with Vectone signals our intent to become a major player in the ethnic MVNO arena.
“With international calling card minutes rapidly migrating to mobile, this is an excellent time to be forging new partnerships in a segment, which is showing signs of bucking the recession with strong projected growth rates. Vectone builds on our eight existing MVNO partnerships and underlines our ambitions to target new growth areas in the wholesale market.”
