Carphone Warehouse said last week it is considering bringing its new ‘wireless world’ format stores into its entire retail estate.
Previously, Carphone said the new concept stores would only account for part of its retail estate.
But, Mobile News understands the new format stores have seen high footfall and sales volumes.
The wireless world stores offer a wider product range – including video games, laptops, netbooks, computer peripherals and routers – interactive bays and technical support in-store.
Large and flagship stores also offer televisions and Sky and Virgin packages.
Carphone said it aims to roll out new format stores abroad in its The Phone House stores on the back of the UK success, as early as next year.
It is currently piloting a store in Murcia, Spain.
Carphone new business and multichannel director Andrew Brem said: “Providing wireless communication products is our ‘raison d’etre’, so we must satisfy that customer need for different communication tools to be successful.
“We’re considering rolling them out throughout the entire retail estate and moving it into other countries as well.
“We will go to other markets, probably as early as next year, but we haven’t decided where as yet.”
Carphone has 14 wireless world stores open and will roll out 24 new concept stores by Christmas, which will mostly be refurbishments to existing sites.
