Avenir has parted company with its telecom channel manager Ben Price after just two months.
Avenir announced the appointment of Price from Nortel in July. Price left before his 90-day probationary period was completed.
Price was brought in to Avenir to increase its presence in the fixed line sales channel. Duties included increasing its customer base and overseeing work across voice, data IP convergence products predominantly through Opal Telecom.
Avenir announced earlier this month the appointment of former Samsung and 20:20 employee Paul Sandy as its head of indirect sales team. Sandy is currently overseeing the role.
Avenir has also confirmed it is to expand its sales team for fixed line in line with the launch of O2’s ‘Joined Up’ service, which launches this month with BT as wholesale partner. Its Opal proposition has so far failed to hit expected targets, it has been claimed.
Avenir admitted it had been seeking other fixed line providers prior to the O2 announcement but is no longer actively seeking further opportunities.
An Avenir spokesperson said: “Ben Price made a decision to leave Avenir in order to pursue other opportunities. However, we have been strengthening our team. Paul Sandy is now looking after the comms channel as well as all new business opportunities.
“We are really excited about the new O2 Joined Up fixed line product and feel it will give us a fantastic opportunity to move into the comms market as well as enabling us to offer this new product to our mobile dealers. As such we are looking to recruit even more sales people to help us to drive this key initiative.”
Avenir has also announced it will be launching a new dealer programme and website called ‘Talking Partners’ in November to offer specific deals for customers, ability to order stock online, and receive additional information on products and marketing tools. Avenir said it is an upgrade to its existing Focus online site.
An Avenir spokesperson said: “We feel everyone working with Avenir is a partner, however much business they put through us. We are building this programme as we speak, and will be launching a new website in November.”
