Smartphone manufacturer RIM is preparing to announce the new BlackBerry Storm 2 touchscreen device on Thursday, Mobile News understands.
Like its predecessor released last year, the Storm (pictured), the device will be available exclusively on Vodafone. Sources said an announcement is “imminent” although neither Vodafone nor RIM would comment.
Mobile News understands that the Storm 2’s features will include the same resolution camera as the original Storm (3.2 megapixels), but its biggest feature is the revamped capacitive touchscreen. Some users had complained of the need to press down heavily on the original Storm’s screen. The Storm 2 is also to feature BlackBerry’s new operating system.
The new device is also to feature Wi-Fi, which the previous Storm did not have.
Details of a special £30 tariff were leaked after Carphone staffers in Cornwall and Walton-on-Thames unwittingly posted marketing material up in a store window ahead of the agreed announcement date.
