Carphone Warehouse has denied a slump in laptop sales during the run up to the launch of Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 7, available on certain devices from Thurday (October 22).
Retail staff in London-based Carphone stores said sales volumes for laptops and netbooks have slowed in recent weeks, ahead of the Microsoft release.
Carphone has reduced the price of several of its laptops and netbooks by an average of £70, including the Dell Studio 15 (£439, down from £499) and the Asus Eee PC 1008 (£279, down from £329).
But a Carphone spokesperson denied any decrease in laptop sales.
He said: “If anything, our laptop price deals are helping to increase sales and market share.”
