Handsets from specialist manufacturer Emporia will be available to dealers from 20:20 this month.
20:20 is also hosting fulfilment of a freecall customer service number for Emporia following an advertising campaign in Saga magazine.
Austrian company Emporia produces handsets aimed at elderly users or users with vision or hearing problems. Handsets feature big buttons and fonts, easy menus, personal alarm functions and are hearing aid compatible.
Its UK operations are being headed up by former Dextra sales director Richard Parry. Parry has so far been successful at getting the Emporia Life Plus (pictured) and Emporia Talk Premium handsets stocked by Carphone Warehouse, through its TalkMobile MVNO offering.
Said Parry: “20:20 gives us great scale as it is a strong business and the MVNO market place they deal with is strong.
“We have identified a UK target market of nine million people, three million of whom don’t use a mobile at all, another three million who use ‘hand me up handsets’ from a son or daughter that isn’t necessarily suited to them, and another three million using mainstream handsets.”
Emporia and Parry will also be appearing at the ‘Mobile phones for the seniors market’ conference at London’s Royal Institute of British Architects on Monday.
