Ingram Micro has teamed up with Microsoft to offer software asset management (SAM), allowing resellers to certify end users with a Microsoft licence.
SAM is a business tool that manages deployment and maintenance of software applications. It helps resellers audit existing software to ensure users comply with licensing requirements. The SAM certificate is for businesses of less than 250 users and lasts for 12 months. Resellers can join a pilot and a programme to certify businesses subsequently.
Ingram Micro head of software and mobility Apay Obang-Oyway (pictured) said: “End customers want to be confident of their licensing position and prove they are compliant. We believe businesses will see tangible benefits – they can save 20-30 per cent on software licences in the first year while being in greater control of software assets.
“But SAM is often handled inefficiently as it’s a complex and dry subject. By introducing the SAM character in a consumer campaign, we’re demonstrating there is a userfriendly way to help customers achieve these benefits.”
