Virgin Media has launched ‘Get Social’, a new social networking and email application for its mobile customers.
Get Social brings instant updates from Twitter, Facebook, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger and virginmedia.com and enables people to stay in touch and up-to-date with their friends at all times.
The service is launching on the Nokia 5800, Nokia 5530, Sony Ericsson W595 and Sony Ericsson K770i, with more handsets to follow in the New Year.
The company added that mobile internet use amongst its customers has doubled since January, driven by market-leading mobile data tariffs and an increasing range of high-end handsets.
Virgin Media director of mobile Jonathan Kini said: “Get Social will transform the mobile experience for our customers’ favourite social networks. We’re changing the way people use their mobile phones, with simple, market-leading mobile data rates and a whole world of content, delivered straight to people’s pocket.”
