Airtime distributor HSC increased its customer base by 25 per cent in the second half of last year.
HSC business manager Bob Sweetlove said: “We have grown our trading base by 25 per cent. It’s been an excellent year.”
HSC sales manager Carlos Pestana told around 60 delegates at HSC’s annual dealer conference – the first for its newly-created Mobile Club – that HSC has in recent months served at least half of all UK mobile dealers.
Sweetlove added HSC research shows there are around 1,000 mobile dealers operating in the UK, down from around 3,000 four years ago.
Sweetlove said: “In the past six months, 555 dealers have bought from us. In any one month, it is now well north of 400 – where before we were hitting the mid-300s. We hit the 400 barrier in October, and have increased it consistently since then.
“There are about 1,000 independent mobile dealers and more than half have bought from us in the past six months. So we have got to be reasonably happy with that. We have sold more kit, but we have had to step up the pace.”
Sweetlove said the increase in business is a result of a number of improved areas, including a refresh of its dealer portal, yourHSC.com, which now affords connecting dealers better information, service, training and POS material to help sales.
HSC has also freed up workflow in its administration and technical department by putting better resources online for dealers.
Sweetlove said HSC has as a consequence invested and improved its services and systems to aid dealers and to enable it to move into fixed line and software service provision.
“It has been a great year for us. The last 12 months of growth have been amazing. But we have had to grow to survive, and we have had to work hard to do it. So I’m more stressed at the end of this year than I was at the end of last year,” remarked Sweetlove.
