Opera Mini has been shortlisted for two GSMA Global Mobile Awards. The winners will be revealed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 16, with the ceremony hosted by Stephen Fry.
The mobile web browser has been nominated in the “Best Mobile Internet Service” and “Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough” categories.
GSMA CEO and member of the board Rob Conway said: “Competition for these awards is fierce, with more than 500 entries – including many of an exceptional standard – and a highly discerning independent judging panel to impress; to be shortlisted is quite an achievement. We look forward to the unveiling of the winners at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.”
Opera Software chief development officer Christen Krogh said: “It is an honor for Opera to be recognized by the GSMA for Opera Mini’s outstanding achievements. We believe that Opera Mini is a strong contender for these awards, as it represents a significant breakthrough in terms of mobile Web surfing. It is simple, secure, speedy, and it is already used by more than 41 million people worldwide.”
