Carphone Warehouse-owned Airtime distributor HSC is in line to become one of an elite, but rapidly growing, band of accredited BlackBerry server installers.
HSC staff have undergone full training from BlackBerry-maker Research in Motion (RIM) to qualify them in BlackBerry server installation. They are to sit a final examination shortly.
Completion of the process will qualify HSC as a business to install BlackBerry BES 4.1 and 5.0 software for customers on behalf of its dealer partners.
It will be able to provide a fully managed service for BlackBerry products and services, with its staff having already passed examinations to provide certified remote handset and server support.
HSC will be one of around 200 businesses globally with such accreditation.
HSC senior technical consultant Antony Board said: “We are already certified to support the server and handset, so we are going to go through a new accreditation to install BlackBerry servers. We have completed all training for BES 4.1 and 5.0 and we will offer it at some point during 2010 on completion of the exam.
“We will be one of only 197 companies in the world to have such a capability.
“We can also remotely log on to BlackBerry devices for you and configure them to work together for you and your customers. It will save dealers significant time on the road. That time we can save partners by logging onto BlackBerry servers and handsets to enable them to ‘talk’ to each other is really quite powerful.”
