LG will launch its first Windows Phone 7 Series compatible handset in Q4 of this year.
The deivce was launched at the Engadget Show in New York on Saturday (February 27), with the news broadbcast live online. It was the first time Microsoft has displayed Windows Phone 7 Series on a branded phone.
Microsoft director Aaron Woodman introduced key features of the Windows Phone 7 Series and showcased an early prototype of a compatible LG phone to show the start screen, Bing search engine and other multimedia options.
LG said that since creating a strategic alliance at Mobile World Congress last year, it has worked closely with Microsoft to bring Windows Phones to market while establishing momentum in smartphones.
A name or details for the handset have not yet been finalised.
