The Motorola Milestone, Europe’s first Android 2.0 powered smartphone, has gone on sale in the UK at The Carphone Warehouse.
The Milestone was released exclusively with online retailer eXpansys in December and sold out three hours after its launch – outdoing sales of the Apple iPhone on the site and making it the fastest selling gadget in the website’s 11 year history.
The device joined the Motorola Dext with Motoblur as the second handset in the manufacturer’s Android product portfolio.
Motorola Western Europe vice president and general manager Ralf Gerbershagen said: “We are thrilled to announce the Milestone’s availability at The Carphone Warehouse in the UK. The Milestone is one of the jewels in our Android crown and we look forward to offering this to The Carphone Warehouse’s customer base.”
Carphone Warehouse chief commercial officer Graham Stapleton said: “We are committed to offering the widest range of the best smartphones to our customers and are excited to bring the Motorola Milestone, one of 2010’s most highly anticipated smartphones, to our stores across the UK.”
The Milestone is available on 12, 18 and 24-month contract from £35 a month at Carphone and from eXpansys as either SIM-free and unlocked for £449.99 or from £49.99 when bundled with an 18-month, £35 a month T-Mobile contract.
