Samsung Electronics has has made clear no redundancies will occur in any restructure of its IT business in the UK.

Mobile News reported this week Samsung Mobile UK and Ireland vice president Mark Mitchinson (pictured) is in line to take charge of Samsung’s PC, laptop, netbook, print and monitor divisions in the UK, alongside its mobile and MP3/4 units.

Samsung moved to deny claims redundancies might occur with the restructure, and to reassure all staff within its UK mobile and IT divisions their jobs are safe.

Samsung Electronics UK managing director David S. W. Song said: “Samsung has no plans to make redundancies within Samsung Electronics UK as a direct result of any potential restructuring in the UK.

“Samsung is considering introducing changes to its IT business as we work collaboratively to build on our current successes and take the business from strength-to-strength.

“Whilst we recognise the opportunity of crossover sales, IT and Mobile will remain two important and separate divisions within our company.”

It is yet to confirm if Mitchinson will take an expanded role in its UK business, as sources claim, following his success making its mobile operation number one within the UK handset market.
