Fonehouse will look to open more of its own stores before eventually handing them to franchise partners to run.
The retailer recently opened its own store in Wesbourne Grove, west London and has plans to open similar shops in the coming weeks in a move designed to make the transition period for partners smoother.
Currently Fonehouse has eight of its won stores and 50 franchise locations, with plans to open between 10 and 15 in the coming months.
Fonehouse managing director Clive Bayley said: “We’re opening up a few of our own stores as opposed to immediately handing them to franchise partners. We’ll probably run them ourselves and when we’ve got the look and feel of them right, we coulld give them to franchise partners after three months or so.”
