Frequency wins Otterbox contract

Frequency Telecom has won European master distributor status with rugged mobile phone case manufacturer Otterbox to distribute its products throughout a number of countries.

The SIM-handset and accessories distributor is currently distributing Otterbox products through retailers and networks in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and throughout Scandinavia. It is planning to cover the majority of Europe by the end of the year.

Otterbox products being distributed include the Defender, Commuter and Impact Series’. The Impact Series ranges from £14.99 upwards and is a simple silicone skin. Pricing for the Commuter Series begins at £24,99. That is also a silicone skin but covers the back and all four corners of the handset. The Defender Series, which offers three layers of protection, is priced from £34.99.

It is the second such deal Frequency has won in recent months, after securing an exclusive deal with US phone cover manufacturer Case-mate last August to also distribute its products throughout Europe.

To assist with the roll out of the products across Europe, Frequency has employed English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and Finnish speaking nationals. They are responsible for reaching the retailers and networks in those areas and are based in Frequency’s Chessington office.

Frequency Telecom director of marketing Stephen Donovan said: “We’re on the verge of securing another big deal similar to those signed with Case-mate and Otterbox so these are exciting times for us.

Our company is getting bigger as a result of signing these deals and it also means we’re now dealing with much bigger customers. We’ve always been considered somewhat of a small-time SIM-free handset player but by adding more and more smartphone accessories to our range – at a time where smartphone sales are booming – is seeing us move away from that notion.”
