O2 debuts mHealth division

O2 looks to develop opportunities in healthcare sector with new mHealth unit

O2 has launched a new division dedicated to mobile healthcare, which is headed by Keith Nurcombe.

Nurcombe previously worked in several healthcare companies over the last 18 years, including GlaxoSmithKline where he was marketing director for the over the counter business.

The mobile healthcare division will officially open in May and will look to develop O2’s m-health initiatives, by looking at ways of using mobile and fixed line technology for the NHS, consumers and health care organisations.

O2 sales director Ben Dowd (pictured) said: “I am delighted that Keith has joined us to grow our presence in the health sector. Keith has a wealth of experience in healthcare and has already started the job of creating a new team and strategy for O2 in healthcare.”

Nurcombe added: “Joining O2 is a really exciting prospect for me. The opportunity to take a brand with the recognition and innovation of O2 into the healthcare sector is just one that does not come around very often.

The healthcare sector is changing very rapidly and the way care is delivered in the NHS will continue to push the boundaries of what the NHS is able to deliver and therefore partners are a key way forward in the future. I look forward to working with the health team and business sales team to make this opportunity as exciting as it can be.”
