New role for O2 consumer head

O2 UK head of consumer mobile Peter Rampling is leaving the business in May to become marketing director for O2 Germany.

Rampling will take up the new position on May 1, reporting in to O2 Germany chief executive René Schuster. O2 UK is yet to announce Rampling’s replacement.
Rampling has over 20 years experience in telecommunications and marketing. He joined BT in 1986, where he had a number of roles in consumer and B2B marketing. He then joined BT Cellnet in 2000 where he played a key role in the transition to O2.
Schuster said: “By bringing Peter on board, we will have a top marketeer with a wealth of experience supporting us with immediate effect. He will be forging ahead with the positioning of the company as one of the three major integrated telecommunications providers in Germany.”
O2 UK marketing director Sally Cowdry said: “Peter joined O2 before its launch and we will be very sad to see him go. Although Peter will be moving to Germany, we’ll still be working extremely closely and we’re keen to continue to share ideas and learn from other markets across Europe and the wider Telefónica footprint.”
