Major Irish dealer in O2 exclusive

Irish distributor and dealer Commercial Wireless is to become an exclusive B2B dealer of O2 Ireland products and services.

Commercial Wireless has worked with O2 since 2003. Through the arrangement it will stop selling other network airtime to business and corporate customers. It will extend its range of O2 services with the arrangement, to offer fixed line in the first instance also.

O2 Ireland business sales director Alan Brown said: “This partnership with Commercial Wireless and its commitment to an exclusive relationship with us is an important step in O2’s move to become the total communications provider of choice for businesses in Ireland.

“Commercial Wireless will continue to assist O2 in providing a substantially differentiated service to our customers across mobile, fixed line, managed services and unified communications solutions. We already know from our own research that customers want a one-stop-shop for all their business communications needs and this deal will play an important part in helping us deliver that alongside our existing direct sales channels.”

Commercial Wireless chief operating officer Ronan Murphy (pictured) said: “In agreeing to become an exclusive dealer, we wanted a consumer-focused, innovative network operator that could offer a ‘best in class’ range of business products and services. O2 is committed to an evolving suite of managed services and commercial packages, enabling customers to implement bespoke communications solutions.”

Research taken from a recent ComReg report, ‘SME and Corporate ICT Research H2 2009’, found just eight per cent of Irish businesses currently use a single supplier for fixed and mobile communications, while O2’s own research found 59 per cent would prefer to have their mobile and fixed services from one provider.

The partnership comes after O2 announced earlier this month it was extending its range of landline and fixed broadband services to target both SMEs and large businesses. Customers receive one bill for their fixed broadband, landline and mobile services. O2 is also providing an IT support service.
