SpiriTel buys IP solutions provider

Acquisitive fixed line reseller SpiriTel has purchased IP telephony solutions and network services provider Nessco for £1.2 million. It is SpiriTel’s fifth acquisition in five months and its eleventh in four years.

The Nessco buy marks SpiriTel’s first acquisition in Scotland, giving the service provider nationwide engineering coverage following its purchase of Boucon Network Solutions in Wales last month.

Nessco is based in Bellshill near Glasgow and has a base of around 800 customers, including NHS Highland, Aberdeen City Council and Macdonald Hotels. Like SpiriTel it is a Mitel Premier Partner – the highest level of accreditation handed out by the company.

SpiriTel said it expects a straightforward integration of the new unit, which will focus on cost synergies. It said directors believe there is a significant opportunity to cross sell the company’s ‘complete business communications’ service offering into the Nessco customer base.

SpiriTel chief executive Alastair Mills (pictured) said: “Nessco represents a rare asset, possessing an excellent customer base, a long and successful track record of IP telephony, specialising in Mitel solutions and supported by a highly skilled engineering team.

“The company’s operations are particularly complementary to SpiriTel and we are confident of a swift and effective integration into our Business Division.

“We are delighted to complete our first acquisition in Scotland, a deal of strategic importance to the Group, which will enable us to offer genuine nationwide engineering coverage to our growing base of 4,000 business customers.”

Nessco managing director Austin Davidson said: “Nessco has 30 years experience in Scotland and is recognised as a trusted provider of telephony solutions for business customers and a leader in converged communications solutions. We are confident that SpiriTel represents a strong fit for both our staff and customers.”
