Orange airtime distributor Mainline Digital Communications will take its first steps in the converged market place with a recruitment drive in the next few months.
Mainline has to now worked to sell Orange airtime to dealers only. It wants to bring in a new business development director to identify and develop opportunities in the unified communications market and to help dealers expand their routes to market.
Mainline will subsequently bring in a team to work under the new business development director on projects in the convergence space, across mobile applications, fixed line and IT solutions.
Mainline managing director Andrew Boden (pictured) said: “We’ve not entered the converged market and it may seem that we’ve fallen a bit behind here, but we’ve watched others with their converged product ranges and often they haven’t succeeded.
“I’ve now seen opportunities that we could really pursue in this market place and they are unique. We won’t rush this though – it will probably be a couple of months before the business development director is installed and we’ll then look at eventually building a small team to work under them.”
