Samsung Mobile UK has confirmed in an official statement released to the trade media that vice president of UK and Ireland Mark Mitchinson is to exit the business.
Industry veteran Mitchinson, is the longest serving mobile manufacturer director having served 10 years at the business. Prior, he held a senior position at Nokia.
It was understood Mitchinson was preparing for a larger role within the business to head up all Samsung’s IT divisions after taking on a wider role to head up mobile and the MP3/MP4 divisions late last year.
Mitchinson was responsible for the £50 million Chelsea FC shirt sponsorship in 2005 as well as key handset roll outs across the UK and Ireland.
He is to leave the Korean manufacturer next week. It is unknown whether Mitchinson will remain in the industry.
A Samsung spokesperson said: “After 10 years with the business Samsung can confirm that Mark Mitchinson has decided to leave the UK Mobile organisation. We wish him every success in the future.
“Samsung will announce the appointment of Mark’s replacement in the near future.”
