The job responsibility will include driving Samsung’s ‘smartphone for everyone’ strategy, with a number of high-profile launches planned for 2010.

Stanford will also be working on improving both prepay and postpay propositions in the second half of 2010, as well as expanding the business through associated sales of MP3s.

Stanford joined the company in September 2009 as Sales Director, overseeing the launch of the Galaxy Portal, Diva and Monte handsets. This included recruiting through both the retail and distribution channels and improving field marketing and training.

Samsung UK managing director David Sond said: “Simon has significant sales and marketing experience developed over twelve years within the UK mobile industry. Simon will be a key asset to Samsung as we strengthen our market position and we welcome him into this new role. It is an exciting time for the business and he will be leading a highly motivated and passionate team to continue our success.”

Before his time at Samsung, Stanford had roles at O2, T-Mobile and Orange.
