Premier appoints non-exec chair

Premier Mobile has appointed Ian Brotherston as its non-executive chairman. His appointment comes as the B2B dealer moves onto the next phase of its expansion plans.

Brotherston was most recently chairman and chief executive of social media website Daily Motion. He has also held senior roles at AT&T ISTEL, Vodafone and BT.

His appointment comes as Premier seeks to build on its 2009 financial results which saw 20 per cent growth, turnover of just under £5 million, staff numbers growing to 35 and the opening of an office in the Northwest of England.

Premier’s expansion plans this year include a new Midland’s presence. It said that Brotherston’s experience in helping businesses to identify opportunities to develop, grow, acquire and diversify will be invaluable.

The B2B dealer, which has offices in London, Warwickshire and Altrincham, is an Orange federated partner as well as an O2 and Vodafone strategic partner.

Premier Mobile managing director Jason Yeomans said: “We are delighted to welcome Ian to the Premier Mobile team and believe his expertise will be of incredible value to our business. We want to build on our success and further establish ourselves in the market place and we have ambitious plans to grow and diversify. We are keen to look at possible acquisitions in the technology and telecoms sector and Ian will be key to helping us develop this strategy moving forward.”

Brotherston said: “Premier Mobile has been phenominally successful and I am pleased to be working with it. The telecommunications industry, whilst being one of the most profitable, is also one of the most rapidly changing and competitive industries and it is vital Premier Mobile remains at the forefront of it. By developing and implementing an ambitious and proactive strategy which includes acquisition, expansion and diversification, I am confident Premier Mobile will go from strength to strength.”
