Phones 4U has teamed up with Oxygen8 Communications to offer a text-to-donate scheme.
The deal was made to help people send donations to a team of Phones 4U staff to help them reach their target to raise £250,000 for a teenage cancer charity, Ellis Harriet Clark Foundation.
People wanting to donate can text ‘TREK’ to 88833. Each text costs £1.50 plus the standard network charge.
Phones 4U HR and operations director Tom Shorten said: “We have a large presence on the high street and took a number of routes to secure funding for the trek and The Ellis Harriet Clark Foundation, but we were also keen to embrace the cutting edge mobile technology we have aligned ourselves with. SMS donations fit this bill perfectly and provided a quick and easy way to donate to our cause, which raised important funds that will go some way to making the lives of children suffering with cancer a little easier.
“As this is the first time that we have used an interactive donation service, we were looking for a communications provider that could provide us with a suitable solution as well as high levels of support and guidance and this is exactly what Oxygen8 offered; they’ve been fantastic.”
Oxygen8 Communications director Gary Corbett said: “We were delighted to be able to work with Phones 4U to provide a text-to-donate service for this worthy cause. The work that The Ellis Harriet Clark Foundation do is essential and it was really important to us to assist them in gaining as many donations as possible through Phones 4U’s fundraising efforts.”
