Handset distributor Data Select is supplying London retailer Harrods with the gold edition Nokia 6700, for which it holds exclusive UK distribution.
The handset has the same design and features as the mass-market 6700, with a slim 11.2mm candybar form factor, except it has a 20 carat gold plating.
Its launch in Harrods was supported by Nokia, with a bespoke display unit installed and a training session for sales staff.
Data Select chief executive George McPherson said: “Having the 6700 Gold as an exclusive is a testament to our partnership with Nokia. We’re confident it will be a success for Harrods.”
Harrods fashion accessories general merchandise manager Simon Longland said: “Harrods has a global reputation for offering exclusive and luxurious products, and is delighted to be the first retailer to introduce the unique Nokia 6700 Gold edition.”
