ZTE and Three launch F930

Chinese handset manufacturer ZTE is to launch the touchscreen ZTE F930 3G handset on Three, aimed at the 18-25 age group.

The F930 offers a touchscreen, Bluetooth, a multimedia music player and a three-megapixel camera, plus various applications. It is ZTE and Three’s first co-branded handset on the UK market.

Three is offering the F930 for free on the Internet Talker 100 plan or for £69.99 on a pay-as-you-go contract. The Internet Talker 100 mobile plan costs £12 per month and includes 100 free minutes or texts, unlimited internet access, free minutes for Three-to-Three phone calls and access to free Skype.

ZTE and Three are pairing the launch of the F930 with an online competition to win an F930 and a bespoke handbag. Five winners will claim a luxury leather handbag valued at £500, which will be customised according to the winner’s preferences and include a ZTE F930 compartment.

ZTE (UK) director of mobile device operations Wu Sa said: “Mobile operators view handsets as an expression of the brand values offered to consumers. Therefore design is key and new handsets entering the market ought to be tailored to the requirements of a specific audience.

“The F930 handset launch exemplifies this trend towards customisation; young consumers are interested in fashionable phones with a chic, modern design and high-quality applications. However, design and functionality need to be wrapped up in an affordable package. ZTE is helping Three UK conquer this market with the ultimate cost effective, fashionable handset.”

Three’s head of own branded handsets David Moore said: “We’re pleased to be launching the ZTE F930. Whether you’re into Facebook or Skype  this is a great touchscreen handset. When paired with our strong 3G network, the ZTE F930 gives our customers even more choice when picking their mobile internet phone.”
