O2 has said the iPhone 4 will only be available for existing customers when it launches on Thursday (June 24).
Existing mobile, mobile broadband, home broadband and home phone customers who have been with O2 since May 24, 2010 will be able to purchase the iPhone 4 at launch.
On June 24, the iPhone 4 will be available in O2 shops, as well as Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy, Phones 4u and Apple stores. O2 said the iPhone 4 will not be available on its online shop until at least the end of July.
O2 Stores across the UK will open at 8:02am on June 24, stretching from Aberdeen to Penzance.
In a statement, O2 said: “iPhone stock will be extremely limited in the UK at launch and not everybody who wants one will be able to get one straight away.
“We want to make sure that our existing customers get priority so until at least the end of July, only existing O2 customers will be able to get an iPhone 4 from us.
“Whether you’re an existing O2 mobile customer looking to upgrade, or one of our broadband customers looking to move your mobile to O2, our iPhone stock is reserved exclusively for you.”
