Apple sold its three millionth iPad yesterday, 80 days after the device went on sale in the US on April 3.
The iPad went on sale in the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland on May 28. It is due for release in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands and Singapore next month.
Developers have created over 11,000 new applications for the iPad and it will run almost all of the more than 225,000 applications on the App Store, including applications already purchased for the iPhone or iPod touch.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs said: “People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives. We’re working hard to get this product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries this month.”
