Cardiff B2B dealership The Word has struck a deal with the RAF Charitable Trust to deploy Mitel VoIP services
The Word has won a contract to supply RAF Charitable Trust Enterprises (RAFCTE) with the Mitel 3300 MXe system, a bespoke VoIP telephony solution, to replace its existing Mitel SX-2000 TDM system.
The system was heavily relied on during the RAFCTE’s annual two-day air show, the Royal International Air Tattoo, which took place from July 17-18 at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The Cardiff-based B2B communications service provider said that communication throughout RAFCTE headquarters at Douglas Bader House and the airbase was vital, especially during the show when more than 300 phone lines could have been in use at any one time.
The Word head of systems Lloyd Bowden (pictured) said: “Understandably when RAFCTE approached u it was very risk adverse, as communications underpins the whole coordination and safety of the show. We are taking a migratory approach, with step-by-step implementation to maintain its communications at all times.
“By getting the 3300 system installed now, RAFCTE, in conjunction with volunteers from Mitel and The Word Word, will be able to trial the benefits of VoIP during this year’s show in order to ascertain how best to deploy it in readiness for future shows, and we are delighted to be able to help out.”
