BT has won an extension on its Unilever outsourcing contract worth an additional £144 million
BT has extended its outsourcing agreement with Anglo-Dutch multinational Unilever to cover broader communications solutions and reach across its business.
The revised deal is worth £144 million more in revenue to BT than its previous agreement with Unilever, itself worth €1 billion (£840m at today’s rates).
BT said the deal would see it improve provision of unified communications, messaging, supply chain and wireless technology for Unilever in 100 countries in the next four years.
Unilever functions BT supports include design, management and operation of its IT infrastructure.
BT’s integrated IT platform supports the firm in all its operating markets, and enables its data, voice, video and mobility services to around 1,000 sites.
The initial contract with Unilever, announced in 2002 to be worth around €1 billion, was considered the first global telecoms outsource contract undertaken by BT.
