A round-up of deals available from mobile retailers online and on the high street
The Samsung Galaxy S gets a big push and is now available for free from £30 a month on two Vodafone and four Orange tariffs, offering a range of minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. Alongside this is the HTC Wildfire, which is available for free on £20 a month tariffs across Vodafone, Three and Orange deals.
There’s also a big prepay sale at Carphone. The environmentally friendly Sony Ericsson Elm, which is made from recyclable materials, has had £100 knocked o its price and now costs £99.95 on O2, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin. The full touchscreen Samsung C3510 has also been halved in price, and is now available for £34.95 on Vodafone.
The HTC Desire and Sony Ericsson X10 mini are both available with 12 months half price line rental on selected Orange contracts. The Desire can be snapped up for free on a £30 a month Orange Panther deal offering 400 minutes, 3,000 texts over 24 months, with £180 by redemption for the line rental offer. The X10 mini is free on a Dolphin £25 contract over 18 months, offering 100 minutes and 3,000 texts, with £150 by redemption.
Phones 4U’s ‘Deal of the week’ sees the Samsung Galaxy S go on sale for £30 on a Vodafone deal over 24 months offering 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB of data.
O2 has knocked £7.50 off all its BlackBerry smartphones, giving away bolt ons that
consist of unlimited BlackBerry data and unlimited Wi-Fi, for free on 18 month deals. The 8520 Curve is available for free on a £25 a month deal with 100 minutes and unlimited texts. Both the 8900 Curve and 9700 Bold are available for free on £30 a month deals, offering 300 minutes and unlimited texts and the Storm2 comes for free on a £35 a month deal with 600 minutes and unlimited texts.
“Orange recommends Sony Ericsson phones on pay monthly” are words which are popular at the moment with the operator, with the X10, X10 mini in green and the Elm all taking centre stage. The X10 is available for free on a Dolphin 40 contract with £2.50 a month knocked off the line rental (now costing £37.50) and comes with 800 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data over 18 months.
The operator’s recently announced One Plan gets a big introduction, with the HTC Desire featuring in one of its top deals. The handset is available for £35 a month over 24 months with One Plan offering 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts, 1GB of data and 5,000 Three-to-Three minutes.
The section titled ‘Big screens, small prices’ see three phones get a push on the Internet Texter 500 tariff. The Samsung Galaxy Portal, Nokia 5230 and LG Viewty GT in silver come with 500 minutes, 5,000 texts and 1GB of data.
The Nokia C3 is available for £80 on prepay. It comes with a full QWERTY keypad, two-megapixel camera and a 30 day web pack consisting of 250MB. On the contract
side it’s the Samsung Monte that catches the eye. The budget handset is available for £10 a month and comes with 100 minutes and 500 texts over 24 months. The touchscreen device boasts a 3.2-megapixel camera and preloaded Facebook and MySpace applications.
