Steven Bower strengthens B2B dealer The Word’s unified comms team as senior systems engineer

Welsh B2B dealer The Word has hired a senior systems engineer to drive sales of unified communication systems as it moves further into the converged market.

Steven Bower (pictured) will provide technical support to sales staff and customers, attending client meetings to consult on and design bespoke unified communication systems.

He will also oversee the building of a division of system engineers over the next 24 months to further support The Word’s growth into unified communications.

Bower has a background in the telecommunications field, having worked as an installation engineer at Boucon Networks, as well as working at Azurri Communications and Mitel Networks.

The Word managing director Huw Stiley said: “Steven’s role as senior systems engineer will be integral to the delivery of our unified communication solutions, which will enable us to expand into new markets and help achieve our growth plans for 2010.

“This appointment is a key step in our transition to offering customers a total solution from installation to ongoing customer support.”

The Word has worked extensively with Vodafone over the last two decades, and is a lead partner for the commercial launch of the operator’s OneNet unified communications solution.

And in recent month The Word has appointed Nick Williams, Lloyd Bowden and Paul Nocivelli as head of fixed line, head of systems and business development manager respectively. The trio will help drive forward the company’s new vision of unified communications provision, by ensuring its straight mobile business is supplemented with a full fixed line business.

Bower said: “My role will be to support the sales team with technical requests in addition to designing the networks and maintaining the systems.

“I’ll also make the technology accessible to the end user, helping them fully understand our products and their benefits.”
