ZTE claims dual-band LTE network first

China’s ZTE and Hong Kong operator CSL are deploying what they claim is the world’s first commercial 1800MHz/2.6GHz dual-band LTE network

Chinese handset manufacturer and network specialist ZTE is working with Hong Kong operator CSL to deploy what they claim is the world’s first commercial 1800MHz/2.6GHz dual-band LTE network.

ZTE and CSL have already signed a commercial LTE network construction contract under which ZTE will provide CSL with an end-to-end LTE infrastructure solution and LTE devices in Hong Kong.

The LTE terminals used in CSL’s LTE network will be deployed and developed by ZTE. ZTE claims the dual-band LTE network will provide CSL with a unified core network to support 2G, 3G and LTE concurrently for a seamless user experience.

ZTE said Hong Kong has a “unique geography and density”, making it “one of the world’s most challenging environments to deploy a large-scale wireless network”. CSL claims it is the first operator in Hong Kong to deploy a commercial LTE network.
