Vodafone’s new platinum dealer partners welcomed the operator’s overhaul of its dealer scheme
The long-running saga of Vodafone’s channel structure looked to have been resolved this week, with elite partners selected for its new ‘platinum’ tier satisfied Vodafone has at last re-set its indirect business for mutual growth in sales and revenues.
Vodafone has selected 23 dealers partners for its new platinum tier, and is to confirm around 75 ‘gold’ and 300 ‘silver’ partners at meetings today and tomorrow.
All 400-odd will work with Vodafone Partner Services (VPS) in Manchester, its re-branded old Yes Telecom unit.
Platinum and gold partners have been tied into detailed three-year contracts; silver partners are on one year deals.
Six-monthly review will see partners be promoted and relegated from each tier for performance against volume, value, service, skill and capability.
Platinum partners were, naturally, pleased with their selection, and spoke of a more disciplined and robust channel for the operator, and a comprehensive growth plan for both it and its partners.
Phonebox managing director Nigel Harrison (pictured right) said: “The criteria are fairly well written in stone. But there is a lot of commercial and marketing support in return. There was real weight in Guy Laurence’s address. We have always wanted to use the Vodafone brand more fully, and we now can. It is behind us.”
21C Telecom managing director Richard Hunt said: “By ensuring the right skills and procedures, it hopes the customer experience will improve. If implemented without obstruction, this change will deliver more revenue, knowledge and better customer experience.”
Excalibur Communications managing director James Phipps said: “It realises the programme needs teeth if it is to work. It knows it has the product set now with OneNet. It is setting tough KPIs and requesting dealers upskill. It is a far-reaching and serious programme. Personally, we are very pleased.”
The Word managing director Huw Stiley (pictured left) said: “It is putting far more emphasis and resource into the channel. Guy Laurence’s address was an indication of the effort it has put in. The emphasis Vodafone is giving OneNet is encouraging. It is being open and it is very ambitious.”
