Retailer adds around 300,000 customers and opens 38 Phone Shops in six months, with 50 more planned for the second half of the financial year
Tesco Mobile added 300,000 customers in the six months to August 28, 2010, take its total base to 2.3 million.
The retailer attributed the growth to its contract business. Tesco began selling contract deals in November 2009 and has now amassed 160,000 subscribers.
It opened a further 38 Phone Shops over the period to take its tally to 143, indicating its desire to open a further 50 in the second half of the year.
When it announced its last results in April, Tesco Mobile outlined plans to almost double the 105 Phone Shops it had at the time by rolling out a further 100 over the next 12 months.
