David Hinc exits 20:20 to go it alone

20:20 sales director leaves distributor to establish own business supplying applications and services to the B2B market

David Hinc has left his position as sales director of 20:20 Mobile’s new business division, covering unified communcations and application development. He was in the role for two years.

Hinc has founded a new software distribution business, Mobile Apps Warehouse, which he described as a “new generation of mobile distributor” to bring mobile applications and services to the B2B channel.

Hinc said Mobile Apps Warehouse has signed a number of exclusive supply agreements for both the UK and EMEA including iTrack personal protection and lone worker solution.

Other applications in its portfolio include those targeted at lone worker solutions, mobile security, mobile device management, mobile payment solutions, mobile satellite navigation.

Hinc said: “There are a million and one applications out there but how can the market make money out of them? We are working with a multitude of partners and will look to work with app developers who may not have the knowledge to take it to market or the contacts or resources.

“On one side we are a sourcing and aggregation-type company, but on the other we are a filter for the market. Having worked in the applications market for two years you can spot the winners and the losers straight away.

“Unless there’s an opportunity there which is market leading, I’m afraid it’s not for me. I am not going to play the Apple game and pour loads of things in the funnel and hope something good comes out the bottom.”

His role at 20:20 Mobile will not be replaced.
