Orange MVNO Now Mobile confirms services unaffected by reported collapse of NowTel calling card businesses
Orange MVNO Now Mobile has confirmed to Mobile News that is unaffected by the collapse of calling card businesses NowTel Europe and NowTel Global.
The Irish Independent has reported that Dublin-based NowTel Europe and NowTel Global were wound up last week with combined debts in excess of €140 (£122) million. Both companies were unable to be contacted at the time of writing.
A spokesperson for Now Mobile confirmed that it was unaffected by the reported problems, and that its “services would continue as normal”.
Now Mobile was launched at the end of July, and has already stated its aim to grow beyond the ‘saturated’ UK ethnic MVNO market.
In August, Now Mobile managing director Andrew Hallam said: “The traditional model for MVNO growth is to look into Europe. It has to be a focus for us. The UK market is saturated so we will explore other countries.
“We will stabilise everything in the UK first to make sure it works, and then we’ll export the model to other countries.”
