Recycling business ShP was has been named a winner in the north west region as part of HSBC’s Business Thinking initiative to find the UK’s most innovative and forward-thinking companies.
Lancaster-based ShP won the award alongside Elstat, a business that makes smart controllers used in drinks cooler machines. Both companies will be awarded a prize of up to £100,000.
The final stage of the initiative sees both companies join regional winners from across the country at an International Insight event in Hong Kong on December 6, where the overall 2010 winner will be announced, receiving a further £100,000 to support the development of their next business idea.
ShP co-founder Craig Smith said: “This is a major achievement for ShP. We’re constantly looking for new business opportunities, pushing the boundaries and changing the way we operate in response to demand. Having this recognised at such a high level is extremely exciting.”
