Vodafone is to submit a third application in 18 months to the Bath and North East Somerset Council to erect a new 3G mast to improve coverage for the area
Vodafone hopes it will be third time lucky with its plans to improve coverage in the Twerton area of Bath after its latest application to erect a new 41ft 3G mast was rejected by councillors on Thursday (December 2).
Bath and North East Somerset Council rejected the mast application on fears it would damage the countryside both physically and visually.
Around 180 residents signed a petition against the plans with 33 written objections submitted to the council.
Vodafone says it will make a third application for the area and is currently in consultation with the local community to find a resolution.
Vodafone EMF Unit Manager Rob Matthews said: “We decided to submit a new application rather than appeal the refusal to the Planning Inspectorate.
“We are currently undertaking pre-application consultation with the local community and would be happy to consider any further sites that the local community may suggest.”
