Summary

Budget (less than £100) Android handsets are few and far between at present; the preferred £70 budget was never met and only two examples made it inside the limit. And that excluded the £10 top-up required at purchase.

On paper Vodafone had the best match with regards to handset and tariff but the salesman steered me away from the only handset available in the price range. This left Orange to pick up the win with a handset on the edge of the price budget, supported by great customer service.
