The Chameleon Group is to distribute software that allows businesses to monitor in-car usage of mobile phones by staff.

The product created by US firm obdEdge will retail for £80 when it goes on sale in January. The product is able to stop access to incoming or outgoing calls, messages and other phone features as soon as the vehicle is in motion.

It is controlled by a password protected web portal. The portal can also be used to run mileage and speed reports. Chameleon Group business development manager Errin McNamee said the company is in talks with “two major operators” about the device.
