New US distribution hubs, along with recently-purchased Touchstone Wireless facilities, will bring US handset distributor’s total footprint to over two million square feet
Handset distributor Brightpoint has announced the addition of three new centres of excellence in the US – two in Indiana and one in Nevada – bringing its overall distribution footprint in the country to over two million square feet.
The two centres in Indiana will be based in Plainfield Indiana on the outskirts of Indianapolis and measure 553,000 and 200,000 square feet respectively. The first site was recently purchased, while the second is being leased and both will open by the start of August.
The site in Nevada will be based in Reno, is under contract to be purchased and measures 264,000 square feet. It is expected to be operational in the second quarter of this year.
The company also recently acquired former Touchstone Wireless facilities located in Bristol, Tennessee and Ft Worth, Texas.
Brightpoint Americas president J. Mark Howell said: “We believe our stable and growing US business model and current commercial real estate market conditions combined with our ample liquidity and favourable interest rates, present opportunities to increase our existing capacity and provide value to both customers and investors.”
